Anybody got 3 minutes to click through my portfolio site (it’s literally 5 pages) and tell me if some (or all, or none) of it is loading slow? It feels weird but I can’t get it to be consistently weird. www.prolifica.co

@Mtt Ok, thanks for checking. Now to dig around and figure out why….

The Contact page loaded pretty slowly for me the first time I went to it. All the other pages loaded quickly, and in returning to Contact, I had no issues.

It did feel a bit slow. If you can find the Web Inspector on your browser and look at the Timeline tab that might help you see what’s going on.

@Miraz oh good idea. I’ll do that now. Thanks for checking it

Portfolio was the most consistent slow loader for me with the rest of the pages loading decently quick. The browser inspector is definitely a good place to start.

@gregmoore About page just took 45 seconds to load! It’s all over the (slow) place. thanks for checking for me

@bennorris Contact page just loaded in 1 sec for me, then About page took 45. Hmmm. Thanks for checking it for me!

Loading the first page is very slow for me. It took about a minute for the page to load for me the first time. It is inconsistent though, as you said.

@johnbrayton yikes! so slow. digging in to figure it out now. thanks for checking it!

It was slow for me, too, but once it loaded, I thought everything looked great. Nice work on the site and I’m sure you’ll get the loading issues worked out.

I know you’re looking for web site performance feedback, but I caught a typo. On the About page, the sentence
Your work suffers, because you’re doing it anymore.
probably needs a “not” before the “doing.”
I loved the pricing page. 😆

@fgtech “absolute fucking delight” is a combination of words that I absolutely fucking love.

I took another look with my browser’s dev tools and a basic speed test site. They both point to your theme and carousel plug-in loading a lot of stuff before the server starts serving the page. I’m no expert on this kind of thing but trying simple things like removing/turning things off and loading the page in a private browser tab should give you some actual results.

@gregmoore Thank you, that’s helpful. I removed a bunch of plugins and did updates last night but fell asleep before I got anywhere. Going to play around again now

@fgtech Ooh thanks, fixed that now! Pricing page… I tried to be serious but gave up. ha. Glad you like it.

@gregmoore I had a hunch that carousel was part of the performance issue but wasn’t at my computer to check so I figured somebody else would. Thank you!
Side note: it’s amazing that Micro.blog has grown enough that lazyweb tactics like this now work. Go micronauts!

@SimonWoods it’s one of my favorite word combinations as well. I use it every chance I get

@fgtech @gregmoore I disabled the carousel but still had loading issues… I don’t think it was helping but not the main problem

@mtt @bennorris @miraz @gregmoore @johnbrayton @bobwertz @fgtech @simonwoods Fixed it! (I think) THANKS YOU’RE ALL AMAZING. blowing kisses, throwing confetti Seems like a combo of outdated plugins + wrong setting on cache plugin.
